Hyderabad: The Telangana State Council for Higher Education (TSCHE) has directed all universities in the state to conduct a common entrance test for admission into post-graduate courses. Chairman of TSCHE, Prof. T.Papi Reddy stated this on Thursday, adding that thus far, Osmania and Kakatiya Universities had been conducting common entrance tests for the 6 universities in the state. For academic year 2019-20, Osmania University would conduct the common entrance test for M.A., M.Com, M.SC and other PG courses, he observed.
Kakatiya University had been conducting the entrance test for Satavahana and itself, while Osmania had been holding the common entrance test for Telangana, Mahatma Gandhi, Palamuru and Osmania universities. Students are frequently having to write 2 common entrance tests, he said. Prof. Papi Reddy remarked that the common entrance test would lighten the load on universities, as well. This was among the objectives of a single common entrance test, he said.
Prof. S. Ramachandram of Osmania University has appointed chaiman of the common entrance test, the chairman of TSCHE announced. Others members included vice-chancellors of other universities and vice-chairmen of TSCHE, Prof. R. Limbadri and Prof. Venkataramana. OU VC, Prof. S. Ramachandram would appoint the convenor of the common entrance test, he concluded.
