EC Heeds TRS Request, Removes Few Symbols

Hyderabad: In response to the representation made by TRS party over allocating poll symbols that can be confused with party’s CAR symbol, the election commission of India deleted the Truck and Iron box symbols from free poll symbols list and issued orders to that effect.

The Truck symbol resembled the Car, which is the symbol of the ruling party Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) in Telangana. The EC issued orders to this extent upon the appeal filed by the TRS Chief and Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao.

The appeal was filed because of the confusion in the in the Assembly polls held recently, where voters got confused with other parties whose symbols are truck and iron box and voted for them by mistake which led to a loss of votes by the TRS .

The EC had also assured the TRS party that the Car symbol would appear bold in the ballot papers. Thus, the ballot papers will now have car in bold which can be easily identified and there will be no confusion.

The TR party also posted the notification received from the EC on their Social Media page.
